An Australian outback meadow alive with colour and the quiet promise of rain. Across the distance, softly silhouetted gumtrees sit beneath gathering clouds, their presence suggesting the hope of much-needed rain. The grasses move through a warm progression of light yellow ochre in the distance, deepening closer to the viewer into rich burnt sienna and burnt umber. Among the foreground grasses, a delicate scattering of wildflowers brings the meadow to life. Rich purple flowers take centre stage, surrounded by smaller touches of yellow and blue, creating a vibrant contrast against the earthy warmth of the Australian landscape. This painting captures the beauty of the outback after the dry season—a landscape of resilience, colour and anticipation, where the smallest wildflower can hold the promise of renewal. This particular piece is created on a 5mm MDF panel. Working on panels allows for more intricate details compared to canvas, which can sometimes lose detail during the painting process. I find painting on panels enjoyable due to their smooth surface and the ability to control texture. All my paintings come framed, as depicted in the image.
